Artist Bio:
Sanyas-I is Kiran Borker hailing from Hyderabad, India. He began his journey by representing Monkey Radio India in 2012 and later joined 10,000 Lions Sound System in 2015. He has been a crucial crew member of Goa Sunsplash.
Sanyas-I is passionate about Dub, Reggae, Steppa and its various Caribbean subgenres. He has been mentored by some of the major Indian and International reggae pioneers who have appreciably contributed to push the frontiers of reggae music in India.
Having picked up the Foundation style from these veterans,
Sanyas-I delivers a scintillating mixture of Indian style combined with Reggae culture - a truly unique combination stemming from the suburban Indian underground and also reflecting a cosmic spiritual vibe.
Stinting as an MC, he has been working for various events/festivals across India such as the now-famous Goa Sunsplash and Lemonade from Skillbox, VH1 Supersonic, Pravaas, Sunburn and has also performed at most of the big festivals around India.
Sanyas-I's vocals offer a niche blend of Hindi, English and Jamaican Patois. He was also featured in some of the major events from Boxout sessions, Skillcast by Skillbox and many more across the country.
His unique selections travel from old-school to new-school reggae music, a diverse combination that encompasses various record labels from around the world.
He has staged numerous shows/gigs, quite regularly in Mumbai & Goa at well-known venues like Raasta, Antisocial, Riva Beach Resort, Twice in Nature, Aura and occasionally all around India at some of the most happening reggae events.
One can expect in his sets a varied selection of chilled-out, original Rastafarian vibes with smooth vocals. Bringing in varieties from classic reggae, dubbed-out beats to warm heavy basslines which will make you sway and skank till you sweat.
He has started IPs like the Himalayan Dub Conference in 2018 along with Ninjahdread in Manali & also organized an independent festival called Roots and Culture Mela under the banner Dub Akhara
He has performed along with very renowned artists like Earl Gateshead, Petah Sunday, Danman, Arrival Sound, Apache Indian, Dub Smugglers, Alpha Steppa, Dub Fx, Dreadsquad, and Tomawok to name a few.
His inspiration is drawn from Jamaican artists like Lee Scratch Perry, Supercat, Nicodemus, Papa Sun, Big Youth, Ninjaman, Shabba Ranks, Tenor Saw, and many more.
He recorded his first dubplate for Rudy Roots Selecta from France in 2015 followed by his first international collaboration with Jungle Weed, the track named “Land of India” in his latest album Flying Island, He has recorded 2 tracks with Mighty Pepper from Israel.
A recent collab with General Zooz Outta Reggae Rajahs on “I am Gonna Be Okay (Remix).
He is about to record his first all Hindi Reggae Singles expecting it to be released at the end of the year.
